Live stream our taping with TV on the Radio Mar. 16

Austin City Limits is pleased to announce that we will be streaming our debut taping with TV on the Radio live on Monday, Mar. 16, 8pm CT/9pm ET. The taping will webcast in its entirety via our YouTube channel.

The Brooklyn-based quartet has been called  “one of the most compelling American rock and roll stories of the modern age” by the BBC, “the most innovative band on the planet” by AV Club and “the most vital, current band in America” by the Associated Press. Their critically-acclaimed latest release Seeds topped 2014 Year-End Best lists including capturing the top spot on respected critic Jon Pareles’ New York Times’ Best Albums of 2014 list. The influential band stole the hearts of fans and critics with its 2004 LP Desperate Hearts, Blood Thirsty Babes. By the time 2006’s Return to Cookie Mountain took Spin’s album of the year honors, the band’s eclectic musical spirit – encompassing rock, soul, psychedelia and electronica –  had made it one of the most esteemed acts in the world, with collaborations featuring David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on its resumé. With a live show described as  “sexy nerdiness letting go in a controlled blast of unleashed energy” (The Boston Globe), TV On the Radio will give Austin City Limits a stunning show.

The broadcast version of this show will air this fall on PBS.  Join us for this live webcast of the Austin City Limits debut of TV on the Radio.

Eric Church livestream on 9/23

Austin City Limits is pleased to announce that we will be streaming our taping with Eric Church live on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 8pm CT/9pm ET. The taping will webcast in its entirety via our YouTube channel.

North Carolina native Church got his start playing Jimmy Buffett covers in hometown bars, but quickly transitioned to original material. After graduating from college with a marketing degree, Church moved to Nashville, recording demos and placing songs with other singers before releasing his debut Sinners Like Me in 2006. His second release Carolina included “Love to Love You the Most” and “Hell On the Heart,” his first top 10 country hits. That set the stage for the platinum-selling Chief, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and boasted the massive hits “Drink in My Hand” and “Springsteen,” his first single to cross over to the pop chart. This year’s follow-up The Outsiders also debuted at No. 1, throwing “Give Me Back My Hometown” and the title track up the charts. Church’s distinctively hard-rocking brand of country, influenced as much by AC/DC and Metallica as Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings, has earned him a huge audience outside the confines of country radio, prompting him to tell CMT, “I think genres are dead. There’s good music. There’s bad music.” Eric Church does not play bad music, as you’ll find out at his debut ACL taping on 9/23.

The broadcast version of this show will air this fall on PBS as part of ACL’s 40th anniversary season. Join us for this live webcast of the Austin City Limits debut of Eric Church.

Valerie June livestream on 5/28

Austin City Limits is pleased to announce that we will be streaming our taping with Valerie June live on May 28, 8pm CT/9pm ET. The taping will webcast in its entirety via our YouTube channel.

The daughter of a music promoter, Tennessee native Valerie June grew up exposed to gospel and soul music. She moved to Memphis in 2000 as part of the group Bella Sun; after the band ended, she began incorporating blues and Appalachian folk into her gospel-soaked sounds. Dubbing the blend “organic moonshine roots music,” she self-released three albums, including a collaboration with Old Crow Medicine Show, and appeared on the MTV online series $5 Cover. By 2011, she had attracted the attention of the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, who co-produced and co-wrote 2013’s acclaimed Pushin’ Against a Stone, which Spin hailed for its “poise and clarity of vision,” Blurt proclaimed was “an impressive calling card to the rest of the world” and Rolling Stone named one of the 50 Best Albums of 2013. Now she brings that vision to the Moody Theater for her first ACL taping.

The broadcast version of this show will air this fall on PBS as part of ACL’s 40th anniversary season. Join us for this live webcast of the Austin City Limits debut of Valerie June.

ACL to livestream Kacey Musgraves and Dale Watson on 11/25

ACL will live stream the highly-anticipated ACL debut of breakout country star Kacey Musgraves and Austin’s own country icon Dale Watson on Monday, November 25th at 8pmCT/9pm ET. The tapings will be live streamed directly from ACL’s stage via our YouTube Channel. The live stream will webcast the tapings in their entirety and the broadcast episode will air on PBS Stations during the legendary music series current Season 39.

Recently named New Artist of the Year at this year’s Country Music Awards, Kacey Musgraves is having a banner year with the release of her critically-acclaimed major label debut Same Trailer Different Park. Hailed as “one of the most fully-formed, arresting debuts Nashville’s seen in years” by American Songwriter, the release spawned the hit singles “Blowin’ Smoke” and “Merry Go ‘Round” garnering high praise from media outlets across-the-board including Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Country Weekly and The New York Times. The twenty-five year old Texas native started writing songs and playing instruments when she was just nine years old, eventually moving to Nashville and writing for major country stars including Miranda Lambert and Martina McBride and making her mark ever since.

Taping the same night is Austin’s king of country music: Dale Watson. Called “the silver pompadoured, baritone beltin’, Lone Star beer drinkin’, honky-tonk hellraiser” by The Austin Chronicle, the hometown hero appeared on ACL back in 1997, as part of a songwriter showcase. Revered by a new generation of fans, Watson has flown the flag for classic honky-tonk for over two decades and 20 albums. His latest album, El Rancho Azul, continues his work as one of the world’s finest C&W singers and songwriters, and ACL is thrilled to present Austin’s favorite son once again for his first feature performance. A Dale Watson show is not complete without dancing, and for the first time in our new home at The Moody Theater, we will open the space in front of the stage for a dance floor.
