The Colombian superstar last appeared on Austin City Limits in 2005. Now the awards-laden singer and songwriter returns in support of his Grammy-winning album Juanes: MTV Unplugged and his new memoir Chasing the Sun.

Juanes’ tradmark fusion of rock and traditional Colombian music such as vallenato has earned him numerous Grammy Awards and a record number of Latin Grammy Awards. His albums, including 2004’s Mi Sangre (My Blood) and 2007’s La Vida…Es Un Ratico, led the Los Angeles Times to name him “the single most important figure of the past decade in Latin music.”

His musical message of peace, love and respect for both those closest to us and our fellow global citizens has helped elevate him to global superstar status. The Associated Press calls Juanes “the first truly international rock star to emerge from Latin America.” His belief in the possibility of social change through music can be seen in all his albums, including 2010’s P.A.R.C.E. and his most recent live release, 2012’s Juanes: MTV Unplugged.

In April, Juanes release his autobiography in both English and Spanish. Chasing the Sun/Persiguiendo el sol includes stories about the violence and corruption of his native city of Medellín and his struggles with his faith. He writes, “I’m doing what I believe I was brought to this world to do: to create music that raises awareness, renews hearts, and generates change.”
