In just a few short years, Jesse & Joy have become one of the most celebrated acts on the Latin music scene. The multi-award-winning brother and sister duo make their Austin City Limits debut tonight performing their special blend of pop rock.
Hailing from Mexico, Jesse & Joy were a hit practically from the start, earning a Latin Grammy award for Best New Artist with their 2006 debut Esta Es Mi Vida. They followed this with 2008′s Electricidad, which brought them even more recognition, including the attention of U.S. audiences. Their “rootsy, soft-rock sincerity” (L.A. Times), in combination with Joy’s “dulcet-but-earthy voice” (L.A. Times), has made them stand out in the crowd.
“We always try to do better with each project,” Jesse told Billboard. “I always try to surprise Joy and she surprises me. It’s a healthy competition and always with the goal of touching the fibers of people’s hearts through our music.”
This drive to make a big impression with each album resulted in the stellar ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro? (“Who Does the Dog Stay With?”) released in 2012. With Jesse writing the music and the siblings collaborating on the lyrics, this album is propelling them to international stardom. ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro? received Latin Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Pop Album, plus Song and Record of the Year awards for “¡Corre!” The album also received a 2012 Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Album.
