Franz Ferdinand

As “the coolest thing to come from Scotland since Sean Connery”(People), Franz Ferdinand has taken the world by surprise since the release of their debut CD last year. Their new CD, You Could Have It So Much Better, won’t even be out until Oct. 4, but it is already being considered one of the top CDs of 2005.

With the release of their self-titled debut in April of 2004, Franz Ferdinand instantly became the stars of the new British indie-rock invasion. They earned three Grammy nominations, their song “Take Me Out” was voted 2004’s No. 1 song by the Village Voice and they were at the top of many best of lists.

Time magazine wrote “these musicians are out to move your feet, and their giddy soul is revealed in every trick they use to get the job done.”

After a year playing to millions of people and winning critical praise and music awards, the band headed to a home studio just south of Glasgow to record a follow-up. The CD’s debut single, “Do You Want To,” earned four stars from Rolling Stone, which said the song is “a fearless bubble gum mishmash of glam, disco and the Beatles. And it will be playing on repeat in your head for the next three months.”
